The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental is a wide-body commercial jet airliner manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Officially announced in 2005, the 747-8 is the fourth-generation Boeing 747 model, with lengthened fuselage and redesigned wings that take advantage of the 787 Dreamliner technology to significantly improve its economics and functionality. The new 747-8 wings incorporate the latest aerodynamics technologies that allow the airliner to fly farther with better fuel efficiency.

The first Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental is scheduled to fly on Sunday, March 20, 2011.
