Jehovah witnesses are Christian but not in a mainstream way. They claim to base their beliefs solely on the Bible and prefer their own translation, the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. They reject trinitarianism, inherent immortality of the soul, and hellfire, which distinguishes their beliefs from those of mainstream Christians. They also do not observe celebrations such as Christmas, Easter or birthdays, claiming that they have pagan origins that are incompatible with Christianity.
