батохромды
Any effect on a chemical species (by a substituent, solvent, etc.) that causes its electronic absorption spectrum to be shifted to longer wave-lengths. The associated spectral shift is often referred to as a "bathochromic shift" or a "red-shift".
The opposite effect is called "hypsochromic" and the corresponding spectral shift to shorter wave-lengths ("hypsochromic shift") is widely known as a "blue—shift".
